Name: Logan [Sparrow]
Address: His Royal Highness
Title: Former King of Albion, technically Prince though he avoids use of his royal status as much as possible
Age: Early-30s
Trigger Warnings: Logan has PTSD/trauma, nyctophobia, and his tyranny led to excessive labour including child labour, executions, and poverty.
Note on Fable decisions: By default I play his younger sibling as his sister, and their father as being the Hero of the parents - though I'm happy to change this for RP purposes.
History
Detailed explanations of his history can be found
here and
here.
Logan is the firstborn of the Hero of Bowerstone, who became the first Monarch of Albion in centuries. Throughout his youth he was prepped for taking over from his father, a task which consumed his childhood.
Upon his father's death Logan inherited the throne. By all accounts he was a good ruler. He continued the technological-industrial revolution his father had started. He engaged in diplomatic work across the country, created a successful campaign to rid his country of particularly dangerous creatures, and set out on an expedition to discover a route to the little known country of Aurora.
Although he successfully found the country, the expedition was a disaster. Logan was the only survivor, and the Crawler was to thank. He returned to Albion a different man, a fact only reinforced by the advice of a trusted family seer.
The four years which followed saw Logan descend into paranoia, becoming a ruthless, distrustful tyrant. This was only ended after a coup led by his sibling. He shut down every other rebellion without hesitation, but he sheathed his sword rather than raise it against his own family.
Against the advice of all her advisors, Logan's sister spared his life. He did his best to aid her in the year before the Crawler arrived. Once the Crawler was defeated, with Albion safely under his sister's rule, Logan left Albion.
PresentLogan has left Albion permanently, leaving his country so that it can heal from his reign. Instead he's committed to making amends any way he can. From helping with charitable work to eliminating dangerous people or creatures.
While he made some financially smart decisions upon leaving, and could probably rely on his sister's help in an emergency, he's living a much more frugal life these days. He has the benefit of diplomatic immunity, and it's not unheard of for people to try get in good with him as a route to his closed off country, but generally he prefers not to highlight his royal status.
PersonalityHaving been raised from birth to rule his country, Logan hasn't had the opportunity to learn as much about himself as others have. After encountering the Crawler, his perceptions and personality took a dramatic shift, doing things he never would have considered before. It's only now, released from the expectations of his birth, and free of the looming threat of his country's obliteration, that he is discovering more about himself. He is learning, and relearning, about himself.
Logan is overall a very serious, though calm, personality. While he's patient and empathetic, he can also be stern and shut down others when he's made up his mind. Light-hearted frivolousness is foreign to him, and he finds silliness somewhat uncomfortable (hugely ironic considering his citizens). He is naturally quiet, curious, and confident. A combination of losing friends in Aurora, and feeling betrayed by advisors, has made him hesitant to open up.
Some notable traits include:
- Caring - Given the lengths he went to for his sibling and his country, there's no question that he cares deeply. Though that can manifest in less than healthy ways.
- Driven - Once he's set his mind to something he is determined to follow through, no matter how impossible it might seem.
- Dignified - Through rage, betrayal, despair, and helplessness, Logan has always remained dignified. He always maintains the composure expected of a king, one who is the son of a Hero, no less.
- Diplomatic - Despite his numerous broken promises, Logan is fully capable of being diplomatic and gaining the trust of people who otherwise have no reason to believe him.
- Harsh/Cold - When acting as an authority or leader, he can slip into being exceptionally harsh with those around him. The more he's pushed, the more likely he is to shut down opposition which can end up with him acting particularly cold.
- Distrustful - His years of solitary rule surrounded by sycophants, liars, schemers, and close advisors who simply don't believe his experiences, have left Logan with the understanding that for the most part he can only rely upon himself.
- Fearful - Between the supernatural threat of the Crawler and the physical threat of rebellion, Logan has lived several years in consistent, intense fear. It's gotten hard to shake, though it's focused on particular threats.
- Phobic - Alongside a general fearfulness, Logan has developed a fear of darkness (nyctophobia) after his encounter with the Crawler. While able to fend it off generally for short periods, it is exacerbated by intense darkness and enclosed spaces. His go-to response is fight, then flight, and finally freeze if things get that stressful as it can trigger his PTSD of dealing with the Crawler.
- Courageous - Although he hasn't always done the right thing, it can't be said that Logan doesn't have courage. He set off on a dangerous expedition to Aurora, and returned determined to prepare to face something which already traumatised him once. He never flinched from facing the tough decisions, or from facing the consequences of his actions.
AppearanceLogan is much slimmer and taller than the average person from Albion, with a lean, athletic build. He is incredibly gaunt and pale, with dark rings around his eyes, pronounced cheekbones due to hollow cheeks, and an overall angular set of features. His hair is dark, kept neat and away from his face. His mouth has several scars across it and he sports a goatee. Generally he dresses neatly, wearing high quality clothing on the formal side in dark colours, primarily purple and black.
Demeanour Logan is calm and quiet. Even under pressure, or when enraged, he barely raises his voice. He stands tall, with impeccable posture, usually with his hands folded behind his back. A voice sample can be found
here. It's worth noting that he's left-handed so handshakes might be a touch more awkward than usual.
SkillsWorking off of the Fable system, his tall, thin frame, and lack of magic suggests he's put all his experience into 'Skill'. This translates to being extremely adept at speed, accuracy, guile and dexterity. He was trained in combat, favouring a sabre and a pistol in combat. His strength lies in speed and precision, so he uses those to his advantage.
Most of his knowledge based skills revolve around running a country, or planning expeditions. He ruled his country for over a decade and was relied upon for all important decision making during that time. However he also wanted to expand knowledge of the surrounding areas, prompting him to lead exploratory or diplomatic expeditions when he could.
Hero StatusHeroes pass their abilities on through their bloodline with no indication it skips descendants. However, it's implied that by Logan's time these abilities are far weaker or harder to unlock. Logan never got the tools that his sibling did to unlock any powers. Which means Logan may have Hero powers that remain unlocked. Logan is not aware of this.
I'm happy to play him as having locked or no Hero powers. I will generally go with what is most interesting in the RP situation. Please let me know if you have a preference.
